So you're engaged! Congratulations! Planning a wedding in general can be overwhelming. Couples often ask for some guidance when planning where to have their engagement photos taken, and these are some of my favorite locations in the DFW.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve - Plano, Texas
Arbor Hills is beautiful year-round for engagement photos. It has a great variety of trails, shrubs, and trees that make it easy to keep things interesting while offering loads of variety for several different backgrounds for your engagement photo session. It is the perfect location for nature lovers who are looking for a gorgeous, scenic, park-like setting living in North Texas.
The Dallas Arboretum - Dallas, Texas
The Dallas Arboretum is easily one of the most beautiful botanical gardens located near White Rock Lake in Dallas. Its many trees, flowers, and pathways allow an abundance of backdrops. Not to mention there are beautiful fountains, buildings, trellises, and archways draped by vines and greenery almost year-round. It also just has a calming way about it, that puts couples at ease. Bonus: Since it's right next to White Rock Lake, after taking engagement photos throughout the garden, some couples love to opt for an outfit change and take sunset golden hour photos by the lake afterward.
Mandalay Canal Walk - Irving, Texas
The Mandalay Canal Walk offers a very unique setting for intimate engagement photos. It's unique architecture is a stunning backdrop year-round for couples who want a romantic vibe of an engagement abroad without ever leaving Dallas-Fort Worth. There really isn't anywhere else in North Texas like it!
Lake Grapevine - Grapevine, Texas
If you're looking for a unique place to take engagement photos with a picturesque background of the lake farther north of Dallas, there are some secret spots that almost don't even look like Texas. It's surreal some of the backdrops that can be found there. It's also one of the few places that are a quick drive to incorporate some water.
Downtown Mckinney - Mckinney, Texas
If a local urban vibe with an antique flair is your style, walking around this quaint little town is always a good time with someone you love, not to mention it provides loads of unique areas that are perfect for engagement photos. The little shops and alleyways are perfect for a romantic stroll around town.
Rockwall Harbor - Rockwall, Texas
Of all the places to have a lighthouse, it's Rockwall, Texas. Walking around the docks and shops in this place, you'll feel like you've been transported to Nantucket. Being by the water, surrounded by nature and boats really has a sense of romance to it.
Prairie Creek Park - Richardson, Texas
Talk about a beautiful surprise nestled in Richardson. Just a 6-minute drive from the University of Texas at Dallas, this little hidden gem has a wonderful waterfall, a bridge, and an array of hiking paths that altogether make for the perfect photographic setting to celebrate your engagement.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog! I hope you found this helpful for all of the brides and couples looking for a unique location in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth area to take your engagement photos.
